The love for the Salad Recipes was immense. Now, in this post and video, I will show and explain you step-by-step, how to make healthy smoothies at home. So, let’s get started!

Why there is so much hype about the smoothie as a healthy drink?

So, Smoothie is a full fruit juice (with pulp), blended with some liquid base and thickened with some healthy ingredients and finally, topped up with the boosters!
Smoothie has gained a grand hype because of it’s easy to make recipe and still being one of the most healthiest food preparations on the earth! Why? It’s because, unlike juices, the smoothies are prepared from the full fruit (Obviously the peelings are shaved!!). It’s high in fiber content as the pulp of the fruit is made up of digestible fiber. Fiber is important as it lowers your blood cholesterol content, prevents many intestinal cancers and is protective against hypertension and heart problems. After reading all the above italic remarks, you must be inquisitive about proceeding how to make healthy smoothies at home?
How to make healthy smoothies at home: Key Ingredients
Before we jump on the final part of how to make healthy smoothies at home, let’s follow the steps to create a nice beginning!
STEP 1: PICK UP A FRUIT
Put a fruit or two in the blender. Make sure that the fruit is peeled and chopped, so as to blend it completely in the blender. If you want a rich thickened smoothie, you should put the fruit(s) in the freezer for 5 to 6 hours before starting with how to make healthy smoothies at home.
STEP 2: ADD A LIQUID BASE
Liquids such as skimmed milk, freshly squeezed 100% fruit juice, coconut water, or even plain ice water can dilute the smoothie. This gives an add-on flavor to the smoothie and also enriches it with more nutrients.
STEP 3: THICKEN IT
Smoothies are never watery! You cannot have a smoothie with a plain watery base and complain it tasting like a fruit juice. Ingredients that I use to thicken for to make healthy smoothies at home are: Ice, frozen fruit, yogurt, peanut butter, avocardo, or my favorite, Banana! If you are preparing the smoothie for the daily breakfast, I would suggest you to use the most common ingredient to thicken your smoothie, banana. This fruit is considered to be the best superfood on earth and is so redily available near you. It’s packed with Vitamin B complex and fiber which will be excellent for your daily breakfast.
STEP 4: ADD BOOSTERS
Boosters are the key ingredients that we add to enhance the importance or purpose of the smoothie.
If you want your smoothie to be protein rich, boost it with peanut butter, almonds, cashews, or any branded protein powder. This smoothie goes best with the kids breakfast.
If you want it to be a fiber rich one, add plenty of oats, chia seeds or ground flax seeds. This smoothie goes best with the elder age groups, who have problems regarding the constipation and incomplete evacuation.
A veggie lover can add shredded carrots and spinach leaves to boost it with anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants are the chemical entities, that help us fighting oxidative stress in our body systems and protects against many cancers and chronic illnesses.
A general flavorful smoothie is in a popular demand! Add flavors like Vanilla extract, fresh mint, basil leaves, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, lemon juice or lemon zest as per your taste to enhance it’s flavor.
